SPARK and Nokia Join Forces Launches “Tech Matchmaker” Platform

SPARK and Nokia Join Forces Launch “Tech Matchmaker” Platform

Global technology and innovation circles are taking notice of a recent partnership between Nokia and Sharjah Research, Technology, and Innovation Park (SPARK). The alliance, which was announced in March 2026, represents a deeper commitment by both organisations to boost technological innovation, develop talent, and improve cooperation between academic institutions, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs in the Middle East and beyond.

Fundamentally, the deal is a strategic memorandum of understanding intended to increase information sharing, initiate specialised training programmes, and create digital platforms that facilitate more collaborative and accessible innovation. The agreement was publicly signed by Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SPARK, and Rima Manna, head of Nokia’s Middle East network infrastructure, in front of important regional leaders and technology stakeholders, including Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the chairperson of SPARK, during the organisation’s annual Ramadan Majlis in Sharjah.

Building a stronger community

As one of the top hubs for technology and research in the UAE, SPARK links government agencies, university institutions, startups, and global enterprises. This partnership focuses on developing useful channels that enable entrepreneurs, researchers, and inventors to turn concepts into scalable technology solutions.

The partnership’s focus on capacity building is one of its most important features. In order to give engineers, entrepreneurs, and innovators the technical and strategic skills necessary to compete in quickly changing technology areas, the two organisations want to create advanced training programmes and specialised masterclasses.

Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO, SPARK

“This partnership with Nokia marks a major step towards advancing SPARK’s mission to support innovation-led development by leveraging global expertise, fostering knowledge exchange, and building programmes that empower talent. The MoU reflects our shared ambition to create practical pathways that enable innovators and institutions to develop solutions with measurable impact locally, regionally and globally.”

– Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO, SPARK

Dr Asma Mahmoud Fikri, Director of Government and Corporate Partnerships, SPARK

“Through this partnership, we are creating a strong platform for the co-design of capacity-building initiatives, aligned with emerging trends and real ecosystem needs. Using master classes and the Tech Matchmaker concept, we aim to bring together innovators, industry, and stakeholders within a structured framework that accelerates collaboration, strengthens capabilities, and supports scalable innovation outcomes.”

– Dr Asma Mahmoud Fikri, Director of Government and Corporate Partnerships, SPARK

– Rima Manna, Vice President of Network Infrastructure Sales, Middle East and Country Director for the UAE, Nokia

“Nokia is committed to supporting innovation ecosystems that advance knowledge, build capabilities, and enable meaningful cross-sector collaboration. Our partnership with SPARK creates an important opportunity to co-develop programmes that connect innovators with industry and help transform promising ideas into scalable solutions delivering sustainable long-term value.”

– Rima Manna, Vice President of Network Infrastructure Sales, Middle East and Country Director for the UAE, Nokia

Tech matchmaker platform

The proposed creation of a platform named Tech Matchmaker is among the most inventive aspects of the partnership. One of the most significant obstacles in many innovation ecosystems is the division between people who develop technology and those who require it.

By establishing an organised digital ecosystem where inventors can communicate directly with possible partners, the Tech Matchmaker platform seeks to address this issue. Technology companies, business owners, and academic institutions can interact with industry founders and directors through this system, hastening the process of transforming creative concepts into practical solutions.

Additionally, the platform is anticipated to promote cross-sector cooperation, assisting many industries, from smart infrastructure and artificial intelligence to telecommunications, in collaborating more successfully.

In conclusion

This collaboration between Nokia and Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park is a huge ecosystem-building project which is important to improve knowledge sharing, nurture technical talent, and spur innovation throughout the area.

This partnership has the potential to significantly influence the next stage of invention in the Middle East if it is carried out correctly. SPARK and Nokia are building the foundation for a more interconnected, cooperative, and innovative future by fusing global technology know-how with regional aspirations.
